IVth ITF Taekwon-do Australia Perth Cup 2011
(August 30, 2011)

Platinum Taekwon-Do, South Perth Taekwon-Do and UWA Taekwon-Do hosted the IVth ITF Taekwon-Do Perth Cup on the weekend of 13–14 August in Perth, Western Australia. This year was the biggest ever competition with 135 competitors from 10 clubs across Western Australia from as far north as Geraldton and as far south as Bunbury. We also had one competitor from Melbourne, Victoria.

Present over the weekend were four Masters and Senior Masters as well as VI degree, V Degree and IV Degree Senior Black Belts and Instructors.

It was a great family event with many siblings and parents competing and providing support. Competitors ranged from novice to advanced with ages ranging from five to 59.

The Perth Cup concept is to create a friendly environment suitable for all levels of experience and to achieve maximum participation for all competitors. In patterns and sparring each participant demonstrates their skills against a minimum of three other competitors. Children also participate in flying side kick, flying high kick and group pattern. Whilst they aren't in the ring their theoretical knowledge of Taekwon-Do is challenged with a 35 question written quiz.

Highlights from the weekend included a ‘first scored point’ tie breaker bout in both the boys and girls red and black belt sparring divisions as well as an impressive display of talent during the senior black belt patterns.

Thanks and congratulations to all Senior Masters, Masters, Instructors and students from:
