• The International Taekwon-Do Federation was created in 1966 by
General Choi Hong Hi-It started with just 9 countries: Malaysia,
Vietnam, Korea, West Germany, USA, Egypt, Turkey, Singapore, and Italy.
Today there are over 500,000 members in 81 countries affiliated with the
ITF. • The ITF crest colours are yellow and blue: The colour yellow signifies earth from which a plant sprouts and takes root while blue signifies the heaven toward which the plant matures into a towering tree. • At the 2008 ITF World Cup in Riva del Guarda, Italy there were 1131 participants competing over a 4 day event. (At the 2010 winter Olympics in Vancouver, Canada there were 2725 participants competing over a 17 day event) | ||

| Special Feature: 6yr old Mary Kramer from New Zealand was on holiday last year when she heard about the Tsunami in Samoa on the news. When school resumed the following week, Mary had drawn pictures on 28 envelopes along with a message asking for help for those people whose houses had been washed away. Mary left an envelope and gave a speech in all 28 classes in her school. She collected more than $1000 in donations. Even though she is only little, Mary made a big difference to the Samoan people who lost everything. | ![]() |
